Lindsay Calder

Lindsay Calder. Employer - Corrie Electrical Services Ltd. Inverness.

Becoming an Electrical Apprentice was an option after leaving school. Lindsay had the opportunity to go to university but decided to go to college and do an electrical pre-apprenticeship course. After completing that she joined Corrie Electrical and hasn’t looked back since. Although she was a bit apprehensive at first, when she met with her journeyman it turned out to be the best working day. He introduced her to everyone and they had a laugh. It was that that made the biggest difference.

Lindsay has enjoyed working on large electrical installations and also the varied work on industrial sites such as new builds. Her advice to other girls thinking about becoming an Electrician is to “only apply if you are willing to work hard, for girls they should be aware that they shouldn’t get a trade just to be different”.
